A Very Happy Easter for 100 Children.

A hundred East Durham children will have a happy Easter, thanks to a big-hearted charity campaigner.

After Lynn Mearns appealed for donations of Easter eggs, she found herself choc-a-block with offers.

They came from individuals, shop staff, and stores including the Dalton Park bases of Morrisons and Adidas.

Now Lynn has handed a hundred goodie bags, of eggs and sweets, to children from the Tots’R’Us Nursery, at Seaham’s Eastlea Community Centre, as well as the Centre’s FAB youth club, where she sometimes volunteers.

“I saw that lots of people were getting help at Christmas, but nobody was getting help at Easter,” said Lynn, who is the Centre’s accessibility advisor.

“With the pandemic, people have been struggling, so I wanted to do something to help.”

A spokesman for the Centre said “We are so grateful to Lynn and proud of her achievement, which will make sure none of our children goes without a treat this Easter.”

Lynn is pictured receiving donations of eggs from Morrisons at Dalton Park and Adidas at Dalton Park, and presenting them to children at Tots'R'Us Nursery.
